Welcome to Abundant Health Life! I’m Kathryn Hale, a board-certified OBGYN with specialized training in Functional Medicine and Integrative Women's Health.

Medical Training + Experience

I'm a board-certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist and a member of the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM). I completed the Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice certification and the Advanced Hormone Practice Module through IFM in 2017.

Most recently, I graduated from Dr. Aviva Romm's Women's Functional & Integrative Medicine Training Program.

I have nearly a decade and a half of experience in Obstetrics and Gynecology. I completed my internship and residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, receiving valuable high-risk experience at The Regional Medical Center in Memphis. I served at a community health center in South Carolina before moving to North Georgia, where I practiced for over seven years as part of a single specialty group. I've spent the past few years working as a Diplomat OBGYN Hospitalist with OB Hospitalist Group.

While in private practice, I was selected as an Atlanta Magazine Castle Connolly Top Doctor from 2017 to 2020. In 2020 I also received the Exceptional Women in Medicine award.

My Story

I was born on the beautiful island of Bermuda. According to my mother, at the age of 3, I said that I wanted to be an "ob-ta-tri-shun." I've always had a healer's heart. I lived In Bermuda with my family until I began to study abroad in countries as diverse as Hong Kong, Canada, and Grenada, where I received my medical education. St Vincent and the Grenadines was where I received my initial clinical exposure through St. George's University School of Medicine.

Thanks to my medical school's international approach, I could complete additional clinical rotations in the United Kingdom and the United States. Exposure to a primarily midwife lead model of Obstetrics in the UK greatly influenced my approach to birth and renewed my love for women's health.

Specialty training in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis drew me to the southern United States. "The Med" exposed me to a very high acuity population, allowing me to hone my clinical acumen while developing strong transitional and minimally invasive surgical skills. After completing my specialty training, I worked at a local community health center in Columbia, South Carolina. Near the end of my commitment there, I met and married a Georgia boy and moved to North Georgia to work in private practice.

My health struggled during my initial time in Georgia. I developed severe environmental allergies and underwent anaphylaxis with my ENT specialist during allergy testing. I was highly reactive to desensitization therapy and developed giant hives with minimal improvement in my symptoms.

During this time, a patient referred me to a local integrative health center, where I experienced whole-body medicine. I had already begun to explore the power of dietary changes to influence menstrual health. I was ready to get to the root of my problems to help my body heal.

Once I had achieved personal success, I pursued further education to acquire tools that would enable me to bring these options to the women that I served.

My sweet son is the miracle that entered our world after years of infertility. I believe that the power of personalized nutrition and lifestyle interventions prepared my body to conceive naturally at the age of 39.

This scripture has always inspired me,  “I come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10b). Through recent experiences, I have come to see this verse as referring to more than just an esoteric spiritual concept.

We are meant to thrive emotionally, physically, and financially.

We are supposed to have a whole and vibrant life now.

We can achieve an abundant, healthy life through a holistic approach to wellness!
